Marnie is a brand new Metropolitan Opera production by composer Nico Muhly and librettist Nicholas Wright, which begins October 19, 2018 until November 10, 2019. A reimagining of Winston Graham’s novel, it’s set in the 1950s and follows the story of Marnie, a young and beautiful woman who must face the consequences of her behaviour after repeatedly changing her identity and embezzling from her employers. The lead role is sung by mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, alongside baritone Christopher Maltman and conductor Robert Spano. The novel has already inspired a film by Alfred Hitchcock – it’s a spellbinding and fast-moving story of intrigue and mystery.
